Entry, patio, and the first impression.
A door is a hole in the weather envelope. We treat it that way. New entry systems get proper sills, flashing, and hardware that survives Houston humidity. Fiberglass that reads as wood, without the movement of wood, is the usual recommendation.
Patio sliders and French units get the same attention: rollers that track, locks that throw, and exterior trim that matches the siding language of the house.
If the door sticks in August, daylight shows around the slab, or the closer slammed itself to death, we will spec a unit that fits the opening and the climate.
